Course content:

The training course is based on the program and requirements of MikroTikls SIA.

During the course, you will get a complete understanding of the capabilities of the MikroTik Router OS operating system and the features of the MikroTik Router Board hardware platform.

In the course of training, you will learn how to configure, manage, diagnose and troubleshoot basic router problems, provide basic services to customers, administer corporate SPD, wireless service provider (WISPs) and ISPs networks. If you have configured a wired or wireless connection in any operating system, your knowledge is enough, we will explain the rest in the learning process.

You will also get acquainted with the basic settings for wireless connections, routing, firewall (firewall), PPP connections and bandwidth limiting using queues and much more.


The advanced MTCNA course consists of 8 modules, which cover the following material:

Introduction

Information about MikroTik company, RouterOS operating system and equipment line. You will learn how RouterOS is organized and what additional features can be connected using separate packages: for example, how to monitor an APC UPS and how to get GPS coordinates from the command line. You will also get acquainted with the possibilities of using the COM port and learn how to restore MikroTik after a failure using the Netinstall utility and make backup copies of the configuration. This module also covers support for third-party equipment in RouterOS: LTE, 3G modems, SFP modules, and more.

Routing

This module examines the fundamental principles of routing, in particular, static routing, its features, advantages and disadvantages, and comparison with dynamic protocols. Flags (statuses) of routes and their interpretation. You will learn when you can use an interface as a gateway, and what not, and why.

Bridging

In this module you will learn and remember what a bridge is, why you need it and where it can be useful, and where you can't do without it. Consideration is given to the possibility of combining Layer 2 interfaces into a bridge, as well as adding point-to-point interfaces to a bridge using BCP (bridge control protocol). Also in this module you will learn how to make a software switch and why it is worse than the built-in hardware switch included in most MikroTik SOHO models.

Wireless

The module is devoted to an overview of the capabilities of MikroTik equipment in the field of building wireless Wi-Fi networks. Provides an overview of the 802.11 protocol family and features of each standard: b / g / n / ac. This module examines the modes of operation of the wireless interface, you will learn how to configure MikroTik as a Wi-Fi access point, a client for a wireless Wi-Fi network, as well as a wireless bridge. Learn how the standard 802.11 protocol differs from the proprietary MikroTik protocols: Nstreme and NV2, as well as learn about the Nstreme Dual technology. After the training, you will learn how to protect your Wi-Fi network from unauthorized access and limit the bandwidth for wireless clients. The module also discusses tools for finding problems and debugging the operation of a Wi-Fi network using the Scan, Sniffer, Snooper, Frequency usage utilities.

Network management

In this module, you will get acquainted with the modes of operation of broadcast interfaces (enabled, proxy-arp, disabled, reply-only); with the DHCP server and DHCP client settings on MikroTik, you will learn how to configure non-standard DHCP server options, how to make DHCP reservations based on the client's MAC address, how to limit the client's bandwidth and authentication via Radius. Also from this module you will learn which utilities will help you in monitoring your network, how to use the capabilities of the SNMP protocol and what parameters of MikroTik operation can be monitored using it; how to send a letter from a MikroTik router, make detailed logging of various events, and also how to communicate with the MikroTik technical support team.

Firewall

The module is devoted to the description of the work of the firewall and its limitless possibilities. You will learn how to protect your network from outside access, be able to flexibly configure network security policies on your router, also learn about SRC and DST NAT, understand the difference between action masquerade and src-nat, and also about such an interesting action as redirect. The module also understands the packet flow diagram (Packet Flow Diagram) inside MikroTik RouterOS - the cornerstone for understanding how firewall, NAT, QoS, Policy Based Routing and much more work.

QoS

This module describes the capabilities of RouterOS in the field of traffic management. The parameters for setting up simple queues are considered: Simple Queue and a special type of PCQ queue developed by MikroTik. After the training, you will learn how to flexibly manipulate the bandwidth for different types of traffic.

Tunnels

In this module you will learn about the types of virtual private networks (VPNs), their advantages and disadvantages in comparison, and also learn how to run PPPoE, PPTP, L2TP, SSTP servers on MikroTik and manage local database users, learn how to limit the speed for connected clients , add a route automatically to the client's remote network, and we will also discuss in more detail the possibility of adding a client to the bridge using BCP.


The course ends with a certification test (exam), after successfully passing which you will receive an international MTCNA certificate, which allows you to study further and participate in more complex MikroTik engineering-level trainings (MTCRE, MTCWE, MTCTCE, MTCUME, MTCIPv6E, MTCINE).

Participants who successfully pass the exam will receive an international certificate, as well as a RouterOS L4 license as a gift, regardless of the results of the exam.
